Hotels in Bulgaria: What Holidays in the Country’s Resorts Cost

If you are thinking about a summer trip to the sea then we have good news for you today: Bulgaria has opened its borders to a long list of countries, and for the trip all you need is a PCR test or a vaccination certificate.

We have studied the country’s popular resorts and found hotels of various price categories for every type of vacation.

  • Borders are open for these countries.
  • A PCR test is required, it must be taken no more than 72 hours before arrival. If you have a vaccination certificate, then the test is not necessary.
  • Mandatory isolation isn’t required.
  • A number of restrictions are still in place. For example, cafes and restaurants are open from 6:00 to 23:00 and only accept guests in the open air.

When to travel

The beach season in Bulgaria starts in the middle of May and lasts until mid-September, but you are unlikely to go swimming before mid-June, as the sea isn’t warm enough yet. The average air temperature in summer is around 27-32 degrees, while by July the water warms to 26 degrees.

Resorts of Bulgaria

Sunny Beach

This is the biggest and best known resort on the Black Sea coast. Sunny Beach has been awarded a blue flag — international recognition for having the cleanest and safest beaches. And that’s no surprise – this ten-km beach will delight you not only with its golden sand and gradual slope into the water (ideal for children) but also with its absence of fees — the beach is free to use.

Golden Sands

This is the second most popular resort after Sunny Beach. It has not only standard beaches (and there are a lot of those — young people’s favorites Mojito, Riviera with a gradual slope into the water, and Central — this is the most crowded option), but also nudist beaches — just make your way to the most remote ones.

All the beaches are free to use — you can find a secluded spot to lie down on your towel.

Obzor

Obzor is an alternative to Sunny Beach. It’s a still developing resort, so prices here are a little lower.

Obzor is also perfect for a holiday with kids — the resort village’s coastal line extends over 9 km. The slope into the water is gradual almost everywhere, although in places it has a steeper slope.

Sozopol

This ancient town and resort will be enjoyed by those who want to get away from the busy metropolis and admire the old buildings and picturesque Bulgarian landscapes.

Saints Constantine and Helena

This unique combination of green forests and the sea breeze make the air of this resort truly therapeutic. But it’s not only the air that mends you — Saints Constantine and Helena is famous for their thermal springs.

We recommend the Aquahouse baths. You can swim not only in the thermal baths, but also in the sea, for example at Sahara Beach.
